Asking for money for a wedding gift?

Asking for money is getting a lot more common now att weddings. it is mainly the bride and groom that pay for the wedding now not the parents, so it does get expensive. A friend of mine asked for money for her wedding and out the money towards paying for a honeymoon for them, to me this is no problemm as you know you are still giviing them a gift to enjoy themselves and they will remember forever instead of having somethong sitting in the back of the cupboard.
