Should I get an iPad or repair my laptop?

I have a 2007 MacBook pro that died on my last week. It is past the warranty period and has a faulty logic board that can be replaced for $650. I am an engineering student in college and do most of my work on my iMac, so I really only need word processing on it. I did use matlab and autocad on it, but since I have them on my desktop, it's not absolutely necessary I have it on my laptop. I really just need to type notes in class. I would definitely get the keyboard for the ipad too. My dad works for apple so I can get a 25% discount on an iPad or another MacBook. Will an iPad suffice for what I need it for, should I fix my MacBook pro, or should I get the new 13" MacBook pro?

That is actually an excellent mid-range gaming rig. That particular graphics card is a good one and can actually handle modern games like COD mw2 and Battlefield 2 at a resolution of 1360x768 (recommended settings). It can handle higher resolutions of course, but you might need to tweak it based on the game. Given the games that you mentioned, this graphics card would own on the highest possible settings. As for your hookup to the large monitor, running these games at 1920 * 1080p wouldn't be a problem and you likely will not experience lag. I don't think running it at higher resolutions would be recommended though, as the card is limited in it's capabilities. I actually have one it's predecesors, the GT330 m, which works perfect for my needs and is capable of running Crysis on medium to high settings. The other specs for this xps are solid and I think it's priced well. I'm not particularly a fan of Dell, (in fact I don't like them much), but I make an exception of their XPS line of gaming rigs. Go for it.

I'm not exactly sure how that comparison relates but here is my explanation. First off I will start by saying, as I'm sure you are already aware of, that blood coagulates when it doesn't move. Almost like cement. If cement isn't constantly moving it will eventually solidify as will blood. The commonality with A-fib and V-tach is that the blood in the atria is not effectively circulating. In both cases blood is only being pumped by the ventricles. In A-fib blood is only quivering inside the atria and it is not being pumped into the ventricles (it simply trickles down to the ventricles). And in V-tach the atria aren't moving at all. Basically, in both of these arrhythmias, blood starts to clot in the atria from lack of circulation.

Many years ago I broke my leg and had a tib fib fracture. They told me I would be in a cast for 6 weeks but it wound up being 6 months. The leg was never set properly so there was a gap in between the bone that had to fill in. I now have a bump on the bone of that leg. That in itself does not bother me. What bothers me is that since then I have had nothing but foot problems. I have had to have 3 morton neuroma surgeries and one bunion surgery and a bone removal due to a very painful callous. There is tremendous swelling in that foot along with major scar tissue. There is much pain on the bottom on my foot and walking at any length is almost impossible due to pain, Does anyone have any suggestions? When my leg was set it was back in 1991 and then they did not do surgery to set the leg. They set it in the office with my mom pushing down on my leg while the Dr. pulled and I screamed.

when i comes to gaming a 6 core processor makes little difference cause very few game would actually use all 6 cores, plus some quad's allow hyperthreading which would basically bring it up to an 8 core processor. I personally run an i5 2500k overclocked to 4.0 ghz (which is unnecessary) but I would suggest 4gb of ram and invest in a water cooling system if you wanna overclock cause it weighs less and is nowhere near the size of a top of line heat sink. also i run an amd 6850 graphics card and unfortunately i could really use an upgrade.

First, I feel as though buying a gift card sends the message that we “rented” the place and are paying the parents off, especially since they expected nothing in return. I think that the parents would have appreciated 16 personal thank you notes from each one of us over $80 and a note from “The Group.” If we wanted to do a group thank you I also feel like flowers or a fruit basket would have sufficed since we’re all poor teenagers. This leads me to my second issue. One friend of ours sent gifts to the parents before the prom, so she did not want to contribute the money to the gift card fund. I see no reason that she should have to pay, but since she attended my boyfriend thinks she has a moral obligation to contribute to his gift card fund. Who’s right?

My son started having a breathing problem about a year ago. The first time I got scared and took him to the ER. On check in I told them my son was having trouble breathing, they made him wait, just to call a lady who was eating and chatting first. So I raised hell, and they called him in next. I saw it in his eyes that this problem was causing him pain. They didn't believe us and suggested he was lying, they did an X-Ray said his trachea was narrow and sent him home, no meds, no nothing. Plus he was still breathing very poorly. About 2 months later we moved and he had the same problem, this hospital admitted him and diagnosed him with VCD (Vocal cord dysfunction) which can be a serious problem. Worst case scenario he would need an emergency tracheotomy. Can I sue for negligence from the first hospital who did not take us seriously. (they actually asked him if he was fibbing)

Help, terrible chest pain while running?

I'm training with my high school for cross country over the summer. Ever since I've started running, there has been a terrible chest pain 2 1/2-3 inches from the bottom of my rib cage, kind of near the heart. My doctor thinks it is a side sitch, but it is far too high for that because if I ever get a side stitch, it is near the bottom of my rib cage, and side stitches are like cramps, and this feels like something really heavy is sitting on my lungs, not allowing me to get the maximum oxygen I need. It feels like something is getting blocked off in my lungs when I breathe.

Question About Atrial Fibrillation?

About 2 years ago i was diagnosed with A-Fib i had 2 Episodes total. I am seeing a Doctor every year for check in's i have Pvc's and Atrial Flutters almost everyday after many EKG's my Doctor seems to think there is no need for worry. My Doctor seems to be content with keeping me on beta-blockers and having me live a lethargic life style. I am now 22 years old and i am not living i am just functioning. what i wanna know is should i seek a new Doctor because i want to get rib of my A-fib i want to be back to normal again. my a-fib seems to Act uo at higher heart rates. it's funny because i have always been an active person never had a problem with my heart then one day BOOM i am in the icu with AFib and i was never give a reason as to why or how something like this can happen all of the sudden. I am 22 year old man with HBP off and on i am just pissed that i got blind sided by this. everyone i talk to seems to say i am to young to have A-fib.

I am in the stages of developing a medical device that is simple, but I need help with it for instance if :?

For instance if your lungs ever stopped suddenly or your heart, either while you are sleeping most prominenty or walking around the world doing your daily routine, more so while asleep though , and for instanace you had a heart rate monitor on as well lungs , (to constuct ones self) that when ever the lungs or heart stopped at least an alarm would go off , warning everybody in the house so they maybe could call medical , only for a beggining at least , it would be better to have one that called the emergency telephone numbers for assistance like a security system does when the alarm goes off to catch the attack in time. I have to say, that the moment I read that you were 14 when he started going out with you, the alarm bells were ringing. 21 year old men who are secure and happy in themselves, do not date 14 year old girls. That is not what most people would term an 'equal' relationship. Speaking from experience, men like him are reasonably okay until you become permanently entangled, eg. married or have a child with them. Then they start to think they can treat you even more badly than before. The second time the alarm bells went off for me was when I read about the porn incident. This is not natural or pleasant. A lot of men make excuses for their behaviour by saying 'all men do it' but to be frank, its usually very immature men or very inadequate men who indulge in porn. They grow out of it when they realise its rubbish and getting it on for real is better than sitting by yourself watching other people! Anyway, the fact that he watched it without consulting you first is such crass behaviour I am suprised you lasted this long with him. Anyway, tough as it may be, its my belief that you should have a few more years of life experience before settling down and I think you already know that this guy is not the one for you. I'm 18 (graduated high school last June) and I spent the last year living abroad in Russia. While over there, I decided I want to go to school in the USA. I got good grades in high school (although math wasn't exactly my strongest area) and the Alberta education system is really good so I feel like I wouldn't completely bomb the SAT or ACT but I do know I still need some sort of preparation. I purchased the college board guide to the SAT (even though I think I'll probably end up taking the ACT.) Having said that, which test do you think I should take? First, you could have a metabolic issue that your doctor should check by doing some labwork. It could also be a side effect of the meds you are on. Keep track of the calories you are taking in. It's really easy for them to sneak in, even in foods whose labels appear healthy.

I'm depressed, i've been through a lot more than your average 22 year old, and i don't know what to do?

I've been through a roller coaster ride this past month has been very difficult, I'm a heart transplant patient, have had heart failure with the transplanted heart, and of course day to day problems. But this past month has been extremely difficult, since september i've been sick again with my heart, november i had procedures done infusion treatments done. with all that going on my boyfriend in october said he needed a break because he couldn't take the arguing, and we eventually got us back in order but the fighting just continued and got worse since being sick and getting sicker. I have my bad days and my good days but its all so emotional and he doesn't think its fair to him the way he's treated but i don't know? So getting to march he broke up with me the end of February and that week my heart went into a fib, and needed another open heart surgery proceudre. once i told him on his normal 3:30 phone call i was in the ICU he didn't think it was that serious!! and weve been texting this month mainly me trying to get answers cause there's a chance i could go. as he's been being "nice" but not being fair to me, i just can't get over some of his antics and he can't seem to understand i've been sick this whole time and its emotional and i know that its wrong to take it out on him but theres so much. I'm not sure if you can really tell a difference. They are REALLY similar. I wanted to know the difference and I spoke with a sales rep at Replacement Lens Express. She put me through to the optician who explained it all to me, but in the end I just ended up going with plastic cause they were cheaper ($25 versus $53 for polycarbonate). I don't think they look much different, but apparently polycarbonates don't shatter as much and are good for athletes? I just don't know. Would a bad MAF censor cause a car not to start sometimes?

Ok so I have a 1997 Chevy Blazer, the other day on the way home it started hesitating when you accelerated then sputtered and I had to pull over, once it cooled off or sat for a little while it started right back up (I had to do this a few times before I got home). I took it to Advance Auto and had them run tests, the guy told me it could be the MAF (mass air flow censor) or the O2 (oxygen censor - which I'm pretty sure it isnt that one). But heres my issue..ok would a bad MAF censor cause the truck not to start now? I had let it set for awhile (about a week now) and sometimes it will start just fine, other times it wont start at all..Thanks!

I work in an ICU for cardiac patients and we see ablations for a-fib often. Most of them have great outcomes. The shortness of breath is probably due to the a-fib. It is a relatively easy procedure and can even be done outpatient sometimes.

Broken Tib and Fib in a 16 Year old?

A baseball accident in May 2010 broke both the tibia and fibula of my 16 year old son's left leg. He had surgery 6 hours after the accident where the Surgeon fitted his leg with a titanium rod in the tibia and held it down from his knee and his ankle with titanium nuts and bolts. Take the hardest classes you can be successful in, plan on taking an SAT/ACT prep course to do your best on standardized tests. I started trying to jog about a week and a half ago. as of now I can only go for short bursts of about 30-45 seconds and after my first burst I can only run for about 20 seconds before needing to stop again. I just enrolled into the blue cross blue shield at my job. They take out 65.00 a weak. I have just started it about 6 months ago. In the month of April I had went to a regular clinic (genera Doctor) because of a slight pain in my right testicle. The doctor per-scribed me antibiotics, and pain pills for a weak. With in that weak my testicle also got very badly inflated, and the pain was almost unbearable, so the Doctor sent my to the hospital as an emergency, and the next day i went. when i got there they did all kinds of tests,per scribed me some more antibiotics, and pain pills. they told me to see my regular doctor once i've finished the medication. the swelling went down a little bit, but the pain was still there. I went as scheduled to my doctor. and this was a different doctor than before. He sent me to a neurologist. the next day I went to the neurologist, and they examined the ex-rays from the hospital and determined, a removal of that testicle is a must. This was on a friday and it was too late for him to get all of the necessary tests did so he can do an emergency operation. I had to buy a new hard drive for my laptop. I don't have the restore disk for the OS, now what do I do?

I replaced my hard drive on my Gateway laptop. The new hard drive of course comes blank. I don't have my restore disk anymore, so I used my restore disk from work that is for an Emachines computer. Needless to say, the vast majority of the programs are non existant. How do I get my laptop up and running like normal from this point. I talked to Gateway and the restore disk is no longer available to order. Do I need to purchase a whole new operating system, or is there an easier avenue. Please help me with a good skin care routine?

I am 18 and I have never used much more than make up remover, sunscreen, and body lotion. I have been blessed with clear skin and I rarely break out. I do, however, have some redness on my cheeks and have slightly dry skin. I have been researching what exactly a skin care routine should entail. Basically I have found that it entails cleansing, toning, and moisturizing on a daily basis and exfoliating and using a mask on about a weekly basis. Is it necessary to cleanse, tone, and moisturize in the morning and at night, or will just at night suffice? Also, does the cleanser remove all make-up, or would I need to use a separate make-up remover as well? I would also love suggestions of specific products that I could get at a drugstore that would be good for dry, red skin like mine. I don't have sensitive skin at all, so new products hopefully will not be a problem. Finally, since I have never had a real skin care routine, is there maybe one or two products that I should start out with or do I need all of these things together. Sedation is fine u will have someone monitoring u at all times. U will also be hooked up to a machine to monitor ur vitals just like at doctors. Blood pressure cuff on arm the little thing on ur finger they will monitor your heart. They put meds through an IV and tell u to count down from 10 u will fall asleep looking at them watching u. After that they do there thing pulling ur teeth. If ur oxygen goes low they just crank up the oxygen on the machine because u will be on oxygen. U wont remember anything u wont wake up until they wake u up. When u wake up u will be extremely tired wondering what the hell happened. But its really not that bad. Trust me. You can ask the anesthesiologist all these questions hos job is to make u comfortable answering your questions as well as sedate you. Oh and when I had my teeth pulled and they sedated me I felt really jot and my chest got kind of tight and I felt like ants were biting me. I started to panic and they could see that they asked me what was wrong and I told them and they assured me it was ok and gave me some more meds and the symptoms went away. Tank water is got filthy over night?

Ok so I have a 37 gal which is currently home to three baby lionheads, one pearlscale, three plecos, one bamboo shrimp, and about three mystery snails. My dad got me two new fish just a couple days ago (one lionhead and the pearlscale) and before they were there, I had two baby koi in the tank but they harassed the pearlscale so I have them in a separate tank while I am fixing the pond outside. I know that goldfish tend to be a messy breed, but I hadn't had any problems before, especially considering the fact that before these two new arrivals came I had three goldfish and two koi in there... (I have a butterfly goldfish quarantined for ick...) I have had the tank set up for a while now. Maybe two months? And all the decor and gravel used in this tank was used in my previous tank (accidentally broke while trying to move it) so I know the decor and gravel isn't to blame. I'm not overfeeding as I only feed them flakes once a day and a piece of sundried seeweed before the lights are turned off. I would try cutting back on the amount of fish in the tank but as of now, all my other tanks are being used. The cloudiness is milky white in color. I have three different plants in the tank as well as a bubble wall and two bubble dragon decors. So I know lack of oxygen isn't the cause. Any one have any suggestions? I checked the tank and no one has mysteriously died and I had just siphoned the gravel and did a 30% water change the other day.

The other good option is to buy one of walmarts cheap $% air pumps and buy on the hose attachable inside the bowl or tank filter than Penn Plax makes. It's a Bubble Box you have to put filter wool in. Petland Discounts all ways has them in their ads. Part of the reason Bettas average a 2 year longer lifespan in tanks is the benefit of the filter, not just more space. My mother runs the Penn Plax in her large (2 gallon) Betta bowl, and it does not make too much current to both the fish. The outflow can be adjusted down with a 50 cent clamp.

How to gain finger strength when playing on a keyboard?

I find that keyboard keys are far more sensitive versus a real piano's keys and it's much more difficult for me to press on a real piano as opposed to a keyboard. I have a keyboard that I practice on but when I'm expected to play on a real piano I fib a whole lot more because the keys are much heavier, but I don't have a real piano to practice on. How can I improve my finger strength so that I'm hitting the keys I need to (at allegro) with accuracy? I find that I can hit the notes on a real piano's weighted keys if I play at a slower pace such as largo, andante, or moderato but when I try to play at allegretto or something, I end up sounded like crap! I don't have the money to buy my daughter a plane ticket for a seat and since she is under 2 (shes 21 months for be 2 in sept.) its not required that i buy her one. And last time i flew i always had a seat next to me open in fact they made sure i had a seat for her just in case of an emergency and I'd need the oxygen mask. This seems to be consistent with what I've observed, and it's not restricted to a particular belief or belief system.
